HSSC update Saturday 10th November 2018

From the Club Sec.

Dear Members,

Remembrance Sunday: Sun 11th Nov - Please be assembled at the front of the Clubhouse by 10.40am.

Remembrance Service followed by Carvery Lunch in the restaurant (for security - please do not bring any large bags or rucksacks)

RNLI, Arts and Crafts Fair Fundraiser - A huge thank you to all those who were able to make it to the Club today to support this event. We raised over £200 for the RNLI and raised up to £150 for the Gosport Sea Cadets. A special thank you to Geoff Goodwin and many others who helped to organise the event and gave up lots of their own time planning and preparing for the day - BZ to all.

Winter Berthing - This is now available to members, non-berthholders, through to the end Feb 19. If you would like to apply for a Winter Berth please contact the office for terms and conditions.

Marina Opening - Please note that with effect from tomorrow Marina operations will take place Tuesday - Saturday with Sunday and Monday as stand-down days. This routine will ensure that the Marina staff take their days off and ensure we have sufficient cover for lifts out/in. We will review the routine next season and in the meantime any short notice changes will be notified.

Car Parking in FB3 - For those parking in FB3, and adjacent to their boats whilst on lay up, please do not hinder the movement of the tractors and boat lift equipment - hold ups cause delay to our already busy boat lift schedule.

Winter Lifts - Please ensure you have completed a Winter Lift form before attempting to book a lift date with Stewart. Our lay-up areas are filling up and I expect we will need to introduce a reserve list for lift-outs and for cradles. If you are a berthholder and require a winter lift but have not yet booked please do so as soon as possible.

Joint RIN/HSSC Evening Talk Friday 23 Nov - See attached. Evening starts at 1815 for those taking dinner in the restaurant followed by the talk at 2000. 'The Loss of the Tamarind' speaker is Mervyn Wheatley - this is the story of the dramatic mid-Atlantic rescue of OSTAR-17 competitor Mervyn Wheatley by the Queen Mary 2. Mervyn's yacht Tamarind was badly damaged in a storm. If you wish to attend please book through the office.

HSSC Christmas Ball Saturday 8th December 2018 - Final bookings are being taken before the reserve list applies.. Tickets are £35 per person and includes: welcome fizz, 3 course meal, coffee, table magician, live music and entertainment. Places sell out very quickly so please book early, first come first served.

Friday Meat Raffle - The weekly meat raffle is back up and running, tickets can be purchased Mon - Fri from behind the bar.
Reminder to Carry Membership ID - Please remember to carry your in-date Club ID cards at all times and to show to security staff on request.
