Sat 6 August – Solent Platinum Jubilee celebrations, see below.

The Solent Jubilee celebrations are a Solent specific sailing event with around 30 Solent Yacht Clubs tking part. Information is available on the Club and the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) Website (event organisers) or on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse. Steve Little is planning a a Hornet Rally to coincide with the celebrations with 3 boats confirmed and a further 2 TBC.

The plan for the event is for yachts to anchor in Osborne bay for the duration of the activities from 1100 until 1410 with vessels to be dressed with bunting and flags etc to represent the Club. The vessels are to be dressed by 0800 signalled by a signal gun fired from RYS. Yachts are welcome to attend Cowes the night before and sail out in the morning, however it will be busy.
From 1100 – 1410 a number of races will take place for yachts entered into class races out of Cowes.

Currently none of our club members are racing.
At 1410 a “Sail by” Commences and all yachts by club, under power not sail will motor past Trinity House Mooring. Following this yachts will muster in Cowes and enjoy Social celebrations from 1500 in Cowes Yacht Haven. The social event will include food stalls and live music. We expect this is similar to the RTIR after party.

Steve Little has secured 15 berths in Shepard’s Wharf for HSSC, any additional boats will need to arrange their own berthing in other Cowes marinas. If enough Yachts are interested, steve will try to plan a communal breakfast the following day, and a small pontoon party upon arrival at Cowes. These plans would depend on tides and planned departure times on the Sunday.
Currently if we get over 6 yachts then we qualify for the rally booking discount which is priced at £2.88 per metre per night 1200-1200.

If anyone is interested then please get in touch ASAP on 07850523177 or email Steve at Stephen_s_little@outlook.com

Appropriate images for use on the website are also needed. If you wish to provide your input please email Geoff Goodwin at geoff778@btinternet.com

As part of the Gosport HOD in September the Club offers restricted tours of our Heritage site on Fri 9 Sep, Sat 10 Sep, Fri 16 Sep and Sat 17 Sep. If you would like to volunteer to host the tours please contact the office. Full training will be given and you will learn about the fantastic heritage the Club has to offer.

You will be aware that the foxes are roaming the site – keep food and belongings secured and please do not feed them!

A defibrillator is available inside the main entrance to the Clubhouse and is available 24/7. If you need to use in an emergency, it is simple to use and all instructions are given once activated. No prior training is required.
