RNSA HSSC Summer Series Race 5 Results

On a fairly grey evening with a SW of around 10-15 kts SOOD JJT set a triangular course of Greenings Fintech(P) Kemps (S) Browndown (S) Greenings (S) finish with a pretty strong east going tide. Sunshine and Jambo led off the line with Jambo just leading from Sunshine round Greenings. The fleet then split with Jambo heading across the tide towards the island on one long tack while the rest of the fleet opted to go more or less up the middle but with bow across the tide providing a lift towards the mark. As the fleet converged on Kemps Sunshine led the way followed fairly closely by Cutlass (who appear to be getting into their stride). The leg up to Browndown was still a bit shy for a kite so the fleet headed off still under white sails. JJT and Spirit of Kudu both flew kites on this leg and it was hard to see what paid, although JJT did catch up somewhat on Jambo and Cutlass. Rounding Browndown it was up kites, although still a tight reach into a somewhat dying breeze and head to the finish. Sunshine slowly pulled away earning her another first place while Cutlass, JJT and Jambo had a very tight race to the line all finishing very close together, but with Cutlass just saving her time on Jambe to finish 2nd with Jambo third and JJT fourth.
