Hornet member Henry Wootton has now started the Golden Globe Race around the world.

The Golden Globe Race is a 4-yearly re-enactment of the famous original 1968 race. Yachts must be of a 'traditional' type (no carbon, Kevlar, or bolt-on fin keels!). No modern electronics or navaids allowed. Navigation by paper charts, chronometers, and sextants only. Boats and participants are strictly limited to the equipment and technology that was available in the 1968 race.

Macmillan Coffee Morning - Friday 25th September

1000-1200 - Fabrosa Room

On Friday 25th September, we will join thousands of organisations across the UK to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a vital charity that helps so many. We will be offering tea and coffee for a donation on the morning and are asking for members to bring along their best bakes for donations too please! Donations will be card only via the QR codesprovided by Macmillan, meaning your donation will go directly to the charity. Club Night

Our next club night will be Friday 25th September. We will be trialling a new, restaurant experience with an exclusive menu showcasing John's culinary talent. Details and the menu can be found below. New members brief

Join us on Saturday 3rd October for the new members brief from Commodore, Paul Anderson. Find out about the history of the club, what's on and enjoy short tours. Trafalgar Night Dinner

Saturday 17th October

Join us for our popular annual Trafalgar Night Dinner, where we mark the Royal Navy's historic victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Reminders & updates

  • Please park cars courteously in the car park. This helps ensure sufficient parking for everyone needing it on busy days. 
  • The bins in the marina toilets are not for boat waste. 
  • A reminder that for your safety, all members are advised to wear life jackets whilst on the pontoons.
  • The car park barrier is unfortunately out of action again for the time being. A part is on order and it will be fixed as soon as possible. 
  • If an accident occurs to you or one of your guests whilst on site, this needs to be reported to the General Manager as soon as practically possible. Please use hornetsailing@hornetservicessailing.org.uk to advise of the details as soon as you are able to. 
  • The galley is closed this Saturday 12th evening only. Breakfast and lunch service will go ahead as normal. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes. 
  • For those of you booked for the Battle of Britain Dinner - we look forward to welcoming you on Saturday 19th September at 1900.

Notice below on behalf of Hardway Sailing Club We are trying to trace the owner or anyone with an interest in the boat. I have attached a formal notice issued under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, advising of our intention to invoke our rights under the Act and ultimately sell or dispose of the vessel if it is not collected by 10 December 2026.

The John Lewis Partnership Sailing Club Regatta

The John Lewis Partnership Sailing Club are delighted to invite you to join our 75th anniversary regatta on 3rd & 4th October.

They be running the racing from the Island Sailing Club. This year the regatta is their last on-the-water 75th celebration.

To join us please find attached the Notice of Race and entry form.  The closing date for entries is Monday 21st September. Please find below the forms to complete and send back to them if you are interested.
