Ladies and Gentlemen, Winter Berthing. Will any berth holder who has temporarily repositioned their boat over the winter, please return it to their allocated berth by the end of February. The marina team plan to use many of these, nominally empty, berths for temporary berthing when launching boats so need them free. Water Issues. Water is off on the N Pontoon Steps, work is ongoing and due to be completed shortly. Colonel (rtd) Andy Platt. We are sorry to pass on the news of the sad death of Andy Platt on January 18th at age 82 after a long illness. Andy was a member of Hornet for many years and was also a senior member of the ASA , as well as former commodore of the REME yacht club. Andy was a Yachtmaster Ocean examiner instructor and sailed the Nicholson 55 yachts all over the world, being very active in the sail training programs of the JSSTC and the ASA. In his later years Andy enjoyed sailing his Cornish crabber, Lucy, from Hornet with his family and friends. The funeral will be at Thorney Island on 26th February 2026 at 3pm and afterwards at the Officers Mess. For all enquiries please contact: rowlandsfuneralservices@gmail.com Members' Update. Reminder that this will be taking place tonight at 1730 and we hope to see many of you there. Haslar Road Closure. The roadworks seem to have been completed and access is now available along all of Haslar Road. Regards, Kirstin
CLUB NIGHT WITH HAPPY HOUR AND TALK ON FORT GILKICKER - FRIDAY 27TH FEBRUARY We're delighted to welcome an expert from the Palmerston Forts Society, who will be giving a talk on Fort Gilkicker — a landmark we sail past so often. It's a great chance to learn more about it's fascinating history and discover what the future may hold for this unique coastal fort. He'll also have a selection of Society books available, so if you're interested in picking one up, it may be handy to bring along some cash. We are also offering our happy hour between 18:00 and 19:00, where you can enjoy half price beer, half price house wine, 20% off other wines and half price standard gin and tonic.
