Good afternoon, It has been lovely to see so many friendly faces enjoying the clubhouse over the last week or so. This weekend we have two private BBQ's arranged and whilst we are planning to operate a normal galley service too, please keep in mind that wait times could be a little longer. With many thanks, Jess HMS Hornet This week the club received the kind donation of an HMS Hornet crest from Judith Bowler, who had found it amongst her late father's collection. Her father was Eric George Culley, Chief Petty Officer and Naval Ordinance Artificer. Accompanying the crest was a copy of Eric's serving records, dating from 1934 and finishing at HMS Excellent in 1953. Eric served on HMS Hornet between 17th October 1945 and 2nd July 1948. | ||

Battle of Britain Dinner - Saturday 19th September - 7pm Join us for our annual Battle of Britain Dinner, an evening of remembrance and camaraderie as we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who defended Britain during the summer and autumn of 1940. The evening will feature a traditional dinner followed by a fascinating guest talk from Mike Bennett. Mikes talk will be based on a flight of Hurricanes from 249 Squadron, based at Boscombe Down. Communications To improve communications with members, there are two new Whatsapp groups available. These will not replace the weekly dit but will be used as well. Everyone is able to invite others to the groups so please feel free to add other members you know. Clubhouse group - will offer updates on events, bookings and Bar & Galley updates. Reminder Please remember that flammables are not permitted within the lay apart stores. Could we ask that any that are currently in there are removed as soon as possible. The barrier into the car park currently remains out of action. Work has been planned for this and we are waiting for confirmation of a start date.
