October Club Night - Friday 30th October A Royal Institute of Navigation Talk Two Ports - One Pilot By Captain Bill Hargreaves MN After 15 years at sea, including 3 years as master, Bill came ashore. He became a nautical surveyor and examiner, before becoming an Authorised Pilot for the port of Southampton, specialising in the largest containerships and tankers using the port. Not only this, he also lectured at Solent University, becoming a marine consultant and expert witness. Following retirement, he then trained and became an Authorised Pilot for Portsmouth. Today, he continues to be a pilot, lecturer and expert witness, on a part-time basis. Bill will talk about the training and legal status of pilots and pilotage for both the ports of Portsmouth and Southampton through waters familiar to our members. Food from 1800. Talk starts at 1930. Updates & Reminders - This Friday 9th and Saturday 10th, there are private function dinners booked. The galley will remain open for orders but please be aware there could be a longer than usual wait time whilst the pre-booked meals are catered for. - Full refurbishment to the heads began on Monday. The accessible cubicle remains open and there are 6 portaloos at the side of the mast shed and a further 2 at the back of the clubhouse. JSASTC showers are available for use by members Monday-Thursday 1700-2100, Friday 1300-2100 and this Saturday 10th 1200-1800. - Some of you may already have seen that the fuel pontoon at Gosport Marina is due to be closed to all vessels from Monday 19th October for approximately 6 weeks. - Lobster Pot Campaign details. - On Saturday 17th October the bar will close at 1400 in the afternoon so preparations for Trafalgar Night Dinner can get underway. - Although the demolition works have now been completed to Building 98, there are some areas of FB3 still currently without electric whilst works are ongoing. As soon as we have a confirmed date this will be back on, I will share this. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience this may cause. | ||

Marina Please collect your electric metre cables from the Marina Office. If a boat does not have a metred electric cable and is plugged in between 01/10/26 - 31/03/27, there is a daily electric fee of £2.50 as per the scale of charges. The Marina team are busy booking in the requests for winter lifts. If you are still to book yours in, you can book by completing the form below. You can also find this through the members portal on the website, or there are hard copies outside of the Club office.
