Another unusual West to East Start for the fleet this week with 8 boats arriving at the line. Regulars Challenger and Gopher Kicks were away this week, but RNSA Sovereign arrived for her first race of the season. Challenging light South Easterly wind conditions tested the race committee prior to the start however, with the likely prospect of a reduced course.
Jetpack and Sunshine were first over the line, with Jetpack to the first mark at 5Q Outer Spit, a Stbd rounding to North Sturbridge, where the decision was made to shorten the course direct to 5E Warsash Sailing Club, before home for a duo of sausages.
Sunshine was first over the line, 54.24, closely followed by Jetpack 55.09 and Challenger just a minute later leading the IRC fleet. Lightning held off the singlehanded Ayanami in the YTC fleet, by a respectable 6 minutes.
