Ladies and Gentlemen,

Last weeks Big Buoys Challenge and Summer BBQ was a fantastic event for the club.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the racing and joined us for the BBQ with live music—it truly captured the Hornet Club spirit we can all be proud of.

Congratulations to Peter and Jane Vinton aboard Gopher Kicks, the overall winners of the inaugural HSSC Big Buoys Challenge! They were awarded the engraved tankard and crew tickets for the BBQ—well deserved!

Looking ahead, we have the Nab Tower Dash on 12 July 2025. Please submit your entries to the office—full details to follow.

Kind regards, Brian

Please take care on pontoons and the wearing of life jackets for all is highly recommended.

For the safety of all marina users, cycling on the pontoons is strictly prohibited. The pontoons are narrow, can become slippery when wet, and are not designed for bicycle traffic. Riding a bike in these areas poses a serious risk to both the rider and others.

Haslar Bridge Closure

Hampshire County Council has scheduled a full closure of Haslar Bridge, including pedestrian access, from 0930 Monday 28 July to 1400 Tuesday 5 August.

The Bridge currently is currently open, however we do not know how long that will remain.

Please plan accordingly, as this will cause some inconvenience accessing the Club during this period.

Stewart Peters Retirement

As many of you are aware, Stewart Peters will be retiring at the end of July, following over 30 years of dedicated service to Hornet.

Stewart has been a cornerstone of HSSC — a pivotal figure whose exemplary commitment to members over the years has left a lasting legacy. He has been a pleasure to work alongside, and his presence will be greatly missed.

To mark his retirement, Stewart has chosen to hold his leaving event on Saturday 9 August, coinciding with our Families Day and Summer Party. It promises to be a fitting and memorable occasion to celebrate his contributions and wish him well for the future.

Donation

If you would like to make a donation as part of Stewarts farewell, please contact the office or make an online payment via BACS using the reference Stewart Peters.

Club Member Richard Magnay - Berceuse

Congratulations to our very own Richard Magnay for securing the Alan Bernard Trophy for the best Huntsman at the Fairey Summer Rally.

It is always a delight to see our members achieving success in the boating world.
