An excellent start to the summer series, with a good turn out in terms of competitors and weather. The fleet sailed out of Portsmouth harbour with 15kts gusting 18kts from the north east. The course was set to beat up the northern shore of the Solent, filled by what was supposed to be 2 reaches and a run back to the finish line. However, the wind backed and dropped in the final 30 minutes before the start and the beat became a fetch, followed by a tight reach, a run and then a broad reach into the finish.
In IRC Sovereign had an excellent start, and lead the whole way round with Sunshine hot on her heals. It was a close run match, but in the end Sovereign took line honours and held out on corrected time against Sunshine. 2nd and 3rd were hard fought too, with Sunshine beating Spectrum by a meer second on corrected time.
In YTC Gopher Kicks continued to put in an excellent show, finishing 5 minutes ahead of Ursus on corrected time after an excellent start and flawless race.
