The 20+ kts of WSW wind forecast saw a smaller fleet of 6 yachts muster at the start, with the race officer on the blustery beach! Sunshine put themselves OCS, but quickly re-crossed the line. With a westerly neap tidal stream, a 2nm beat to NE Ryde Middle ensued, Sunshine recovered to lead around the mark, closely followed by Brenda's J followed by Spirit of Kudu making up the IRC fleet. Gopher Kicks and the REME HR were having a close battle, with Sea Nymph further astern but going well. The downwind leg saw a choice of sailplan, although the spinnaker choice for Brendas J initially catching up and taking first place ended in an expensive set of tatters as it blew out. Sunshine briefly flew a kite, and Spirit of Kudu looked stable with her kite until passing Fishbourne. Rounding North Sturbridge the fleet returned to Warsah Sailing Club and the finish, with Brendas J stealing back first place to take line honours 7 seconds ahead of Sunshine. My inital (and 100% unoffical) calculations place the IRC Fleet 1 Brendas J, 2 Spirit of Kudu, 3 Sunshine.
