Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust (EMCT) The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust (EMCT) is changing lives for young people aged 8 -24 who have undergone treatment for cancer. Their mission? To help these young people rediscover their confidence, rebuild their independence, and reconnect with life beyond illness. From their bases in Cowes and Largs, the Trust runs four-day sailing adventures—inviting young people to step aboard, feel the wind in their hair, and experience the joy and camaraderie of being part of a crew. It's not just about sailing; it's about laughter, friendship, and the empowering feeling of I can do this. The results are inspiring. Many participants say these trips are the first time they've truly felt like themselves again since their diagnosis. If you visit ellenmacarthurcancertrust.org, you'll find moving stories, photos, and videos that capture the spirit of the Trusts work. Some of our club members can relate personally to the work of the EMCT, particularly those who have experienced cancer treatment themselves. Any support you can offer would be hugely appreciated.
Blue Ensign and Club Burgees A reminder to please apply to the club office if you wish to apply for, or renew a Blue Ensign Permit. Members are reminded that ensigns should be lowered when they leave their boats. This is a condition of the Blue Ensign permit (or any other special ensign permit), and it is good etiquette to follow the same guidance in respect to burgees.
