Ladies and Gentlemen,

It's certainly been an eventful week at HSSC.

The ongoing gas leak—resulting in the temporary loss of galley facilities—alongside essential repair work on both our Merlo and Wise hoist, has brought its share of challenges for the team. Rest assured, all issues are being handled with urgency, and we appreciate your continued patience and understanding.

On a brighter note, last weekends informal Monthly Club Night was a fantastic success. A packed clubhouse enjoyed Johns delicious food and lively entertainment from The Shamrocks. A big thank you to everyone who joined us—we'll definitely be booking The Shamrocks again soon, as promised.

Looking ahead, don't forget to confirm your attendance for the HSSA/RNSA SailGP Talk on Tuesday evening. It promises to be an insightful and enjoyable event. Along with our Fathers Day carvery lunch next weekend.

Despite the weather, I hope you all have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Brian

Please take care on pontoons and the wearing of life jackets for all is highly recommended.

No bicycles are to be cycled on pontoons - this is a rare event however this is prohibited.

Slip Way Use

The slip way is utilised by HSSC for lifting operation's, JSASTC and MOD / Armed forces Assets.

If HSSC members would like to use the slip way for personal use then please see the marina team. This will allow the team to be able to provide a safety brief, inform you of availability and offer you support.

Please be reminded that a defibrillator is located between the main white doors of the clubhouse and the wooden entrance doors to the foyer.

No medical training is needed to use it—the device will provide step-by-step voice instructions.

It is available 24 hours a day for use by anyone in need.

Gas Leak Update

Work is now underway to identify and resolve the issue.

We are hopeful that it will be resolved today, and I will update you on the outcome as soon as possible.

In the meantime:

  • The bar remains open as usual
  • The galley is open, serving sandwiches only until the matter is fully resolved

Hot Water for Showers Temporary Update

Please note that we currently have hot water available for showering via the immersion system while our gas boilers remain out of service. Ive been assured this setup should be sufficient for the time being.

That said, for the submariners amongst us, youll be perfectly comfortable! For the rest of us, please be mindful of hot water usage during this interim period to ensure everyone can enjoy a warm shower.

Thank you for your understanding.

Marina Machinery Update

Please be advised that the MOD 50T Hoist is now fully operational. However, the club Merlo machine and the 14T Wise Hoist have both developed significant faults. Repairs are actively underway, but this does impact our ability to perform slipway boat lifts.

In the meantime, we will utilise the larger MOD Hoist to support lifting operations as needed. We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Haslar Bridge Closure

Hampshire County Council has scheduled a full closure of Haslar Bridge, including pedestrian access, from 0930 Monday 28 July to 1400 Tuesday 5 August.

Please plan accordingly, as this will cause some inconvenience accessing the Club during this period.

New-Style Membership Cards

The new card printer is now fully operational.

Ideal collection time: Thursdays between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Location: Club Office Felicity will be available to assist during these hours.

We will continue to issue cards via the office outside these times as capacity allows. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Tarmac & Concrete Repairs FB3

Major repair work on the FB3 roadways and hardstanding's commenced on Monday, 2nd June.

Vehicle access is restricted in the area.

We kindly ask all members to park outside the historic walls during this period.

The affected zones are clearly barriered off, and we expect the disruption to last approximately one week.

For any boat movements or vehicular access needs, please contact the Marina Team directly.

HSSC Monthly Club Night - Last Friday

What a fabulous turnout for our Hornet Monthly Club Night! It was wonderful to see so many of our club members come out to support the event. A big thank you to The Shamrocks for their fantastic performance. John's food was, as always, fabulous, and the bar team provided excellent service. We're already looking forward to the next one.
